2008 Mileage Rates for Taxpayers

In July., 2008, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (including vans, pickups, or panel trucks) increase as follows:

$ .505 cents per mile             business miles driven (Jan-June)             $ .485

$ .585 cents per mile              business miles driven (July-Dec)            $  .485

$  .19 cents per mile              medical/moving (Jan-June)                       $  .20

$  .27 cents per mile               medical/moving (July-Dec)                      $  .20

$ .14 cents per mile               service to a charitable organization.       $  .14

The primary reasons for the higher rates were higher prices for vehicles and fuel during the year ending in June.
